WebQuests are activities where some or all of the information that is learnt comes from resources from the internet. Here is an example of a WebQuest that I could use in a grade 1 class -
Arctic Survival: Become the Animal
WebQuests would be organized into the classroom in a jigsaw sort of approach. Each group can have a specific time when they can work on it. WebQuests assignments could be given enough time to finish, but not to long because then it would lose the students attention.
This WebQuest would be great for a grade 1 science animals unit. The WebQuest Task is to:
Task
- You are stranded in the Arctic for one week until help can arrive.
- Choose an animal you would like to become.
- Research information about how the animal you have choosen to become survives in it’s natural habitat.
- Record your information in a web.
- Using your web,create one of the following; poster, poem, song, skit, or another way to express what you have learned about the animal you have become.
