This game is very neat because students can choose to learn about: in and around home, what we wear, what we eat, how we get there, and the animal kingdom. When students choose a section it will, show pictures of objects and they have to spell the word using the letters on the wheel. If students are stuck, there is button that they can push and it will say the word for them, or it even will spell it for them if they get it wrong.

This game would be good for EAL students. It will teach them survival words and it uses pictures.

Save the Egg is a great interactive game that I would use in a Grade 2 Science class – Unit on Habitats.

Students get to take the role of a penguin in this game. The game teaches students that in Antarctica the father penguins have to watch his egg for 2 months. The mother of the egg goes to the sea to feed.  The Students will have to try and keep the egg warm and safe so that it will hatch.  They need to keep the father penguin from bumping into predators and losing the egg.

I think this game would be good to incorporate into your classroom after talking about penguins. It allows the students to see how it is to be a penguin and what the penguin has to do throughout its life.

When students think of Art they probably suspect is drawing, painting, or working with clay, but not working on the computers. That is why I thought this game would be a neat way to change up the class. When students are finished their work whether it be a painting, drawing or a written assignment about art, they could engage in this interactive game.

Introduction to Portraits teaches about Portraits. It goes through, where you have to choose the portrait out of three different pictures. After you complete the first set of questions, it gives some information that is very easy to understand. I thought this website was very informative but was still very engaging.

Who what of thought you could bring computers into an Arts Education class!

I am sure most students have seen the weather forecast on tv before.  This website allows for them to make a custom weather five day forecast by entering local weather information. They can also customize their presentation with their own informational slides.  I would use this as an assignment.

Mission Nutrition

In this game you have to do different tasks around the house, after completing the task, there is information that comes up that will teach students about health. For example the first task that comes up is, Open the fridge and find the drink that contains the most ADDED sugar.  So the student has to click on the fridge to open it. There is a chose from orange juice to soda.  When you click on either drink, it will inform you about the nutritional value and tell how much sugar is contained in it.

I think this game really teaches students facts about foods that they might not have known before. I would have students get into groups of 2 and work through this game together.

I would use this game in a grade 3 math class – multiplication unit in math. Students drag the pizza to the right table to answer the problems displayed. This game would allow for students to practice their multiplication from 0-9.

I would use this game for when the students finished their math, they could practice their multiplication through this game.

I would use this program in a Grade 5 class for journaling. For example, In a Language Arts class I would have the students’ journal about fieldtrips, elders or visitors that come into the classroom, etc. Instead of having the students writing in a journal, I would have them use Writeboard. I think this would make it more interesting for them. They will have the benefit of being able to work on their journals away from school. Family members would also be able to read their work. I would not be worried of them losing their journals.

Rhyme with Grover is a very simple game that encourages rhyming. This websites connects to Kindergarten English from the evergreen curriculum.

If I were in a kindergarten classroom, I would try and allow for my students to have the opportunity to enjoy many interactive games. Rhyming with Grover will appeal to most kindergarten students just because they get to play with Grover off of Sesame Street. Grover will give the student a word to rhyme with 4 different objects. When the mouse is dragged over the object, Grover says the name of it. When the student decides their answer they have to click on it. If perhaps they get it wrong Grover encourages them to choose another object.

I thought this game would also be great for EAL students because it shows the object and as the mouse is dragged over top it says what it is.  

Carwash Fun

Carwash Fun is an addition game. Students will have to solve addition problems to make the cars come clean. If they complete the problems correctly, the car goes through the carwash and is sparkly clean. This game can be set to learn different addition problems, from 1-9. I would use this game to help the students remember there addition problems. Students that do not have a good grip on addition could have problems that are with zero, or one. For example 0+1, 0+2, 1+1, 1+3.  Students that are more ahead could use problems that are more difficult.

 I would use this interactive website as a fun activity, after teaching my students what food chains are and how they work.  I would divide my students up into partners and let them work together. This website is neat because students can have a lot of fun while learning. This game allows students to actually see how food chains work. When the students complete the food chain correctly, they move onto different food chains. The game progressively gets more and more difficult.
